Memories of Allerton: Foo Dog

This antique Foo Dog statue is up against the main house, located in the "Herb Garden" of the Robert Allerton Park and Conference Center, Monticello, IL(operated by the University of Illinois). The original photograph was taken during my last summer in Illinois as an Art History Graduate Student at the University of Illinois--many, many years ago. As a break from all the stressful research and writing tons of papers, I took a watercolor class with Prof. Billy Jackson. That summer, I discovered Allerton on a Plein Air outing with Billy Jackson's class and met my future husband. We spent what free time we had at Allerton exploring the sculpture park, walking the grounds and watching all the wild life.
